Sadako loved to run. As a young Japanese girl living in a time of bombing in Hiroshima, Sadako lived in a time of sad memories for Japan. The most important goal in Sadako's life was to be on the relay team. Sadako races until one day she becomes sick. Sadako inspires her class with her courage and her quest to fold 1,000 paper cranes.

This is a great book for grades 4 through 6. It teaches about the bombing of Hiroshima. It would be a great book for a study of Japan.

This book really made me think about what it would be like to live in Hiroshima after the nuclear bomb was dropped.

Sadako is a realistic historical fiction novel.
