Missing May by: Cynthia Rylant

Published by Scholastic in 1996.

This book is appropriate for grades 3-5.

This book is about grief and loss. Summer lives with her foster parents. One day her foster mother suddenly dies. Ob and Summer are sticken with grief. They take a road trip to help them overcome their grief.

This book can be used to teach about death as well as literary elements and idioms.

Just reading this book made me cry. The since of grief the characters felt was so real.
