Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce.
This book was published by: OUP Oxford; May 21, 1998.
This book is an appropriate read for middle school students.
Tom was a angry boy when he was sent to stay with his uncle and aunt because his brother, Peter, had caught the measles. As soon as he joined his relatives, he knew he would be bored and lonely. He would miss Peter. He finds a garden to explore. When the time came for Tom to go home, he wanted to stay. He had discovered a secret garden.
This book could be used by teachers to teach sequencing of events, climax, and author's purpose.
This book made me want to keep reading even though I needed to explore other books while at the library. The garden held all kinds of secrets. This book also gave insight into rebellious children.
