This novel is for older teenagers.
Jacob Todd has left his home to spend a few days in the Netherlands paying homage to the soldier grandfather he never knew. While in Amersterdam he is mugged and forced to stay with a family he doesn't even know. The second story in the book, set in Holland at the time of the battle to liberate Oosterbeck is told by Jacob's grandmother.
This book is two separate narratives. It is great for older teenagers to compare to different eras. This book is also full of information about Europe and war.
This book can be a challenge to read. You must pay close attention to details betweent the two narratives.
